Necker Cube derivative: As it rotates, your brain can flip its orientation.
Depth from Motion
The Necker Flip: motion as a depth-reconstruction tool.
π§ What do you see?βΌ
A rotating wireframe cube. As it spins, you might suddenly see itflip inward-out. The side that was "front" becomes the "back." This is a Bistable Perception.
π§ Why this worksβΌ
Because the cube is transparent, there are two equally valid 3D interpretations of its rotation. In the absence of shading or occlusion, the brain switches back and forth between them.
This is the Kinetic Depth Effect. Without motion, the cube looks like a flat 2D drawing. Only throughStructure-from-Motion does the 3D volume emerge.
π§ͺ Try variationsβΌ
Adjust Intensity to change the border thickness. Thicker borders make the edges more dominant, sometimes making the "flip" occur more frequently.
