Color Afterimage

Stare at the cross. Focus on the colors until the timer hits zero. When the screen turns white, blink rapidly to see the phantom colors.

Opponent Process Theory

🎨 Cyan β†’ Red?β–Ό

Your eyes have channels for color pairs: **Red-Green**, **Blue-Yellow**, and **Black-White**. When you stare at a **Cyan** object (which is Blue + Green), you fatigue the Blue and Green cones in that specific area of your retina.

When looking at white light (which contains all colors), your fatigued Blue/Green cones response is weak, but your fresh **Red** cones fire strongly. This leaves you perceiving a Red afterimage.
