Penrose Tiling
This pattern is built from just two diamond shapes. It can cover an infinite plane without ever repeating the same pattern twice.
Never Repeating
🧩 Aperiodic Order▼
Discovered by **Roger Penrose**, these tilings have five-fold rotational symmetry (like a pentagon), which was thought to be impossible for crystals.
Unlike a chessboard (periodic), you cannot cut a section of a Penrose tiling and shift it to match another section perfectly. It is **aperiodic**—ordered, but never repetitive.
